We’re incredibly proud to share that Design Matters took home four Design Excellence Awards, including a GOLD Award for our beloved Sea Ranch project—a project that holds a very special place in our hearts.
We were also honored with three additional awards celebrating the work of our talented team and the homes we’re privileged to create for our clients. It was an inspiring evening surrounded by so many incredibly talented designers, and we’re honored to be recognized alongside them. Congratulations to all of the winners!

Category Winner: Sustainable / Environmentally Responsible Design (GOLD)
This Sea Ranch restoration redefines coastal living through a sustainability-first lens. A once-neglected home is transformed with fire-resistant Tru Exterior siding, now a benchmark within the community, alongside a fully electric system, high-performance glazing, and energy-efficient materials. Thoughtfully balancing preservation and progress, the design reduces environmental impact while enhancing resilience—proving that legacy architecture can evolve responsibly without compromising its connection to place.

This kitchen renovation embodies Quiet Grandeur—where thoughtful design meets effortless function. A once restrictive layout is transformed into a luminous double-island space tailored for both everyday cooking and elegant entertaining. Clean lines, custom cabinetry, and natural stone create a calm, elevated palette, allowing the home’s striking architecture to shine. Seamlessly connected to surrounding spaces, the result is a refined yet welcoming heart of the home.

Designed for an empty-nester couple seeking daily calm, this indoor-outdoor bath retreat brings the garden into the heart of the home. Avid gardeners, the clients envisioned a light-filled, private space centered around a soaking tub for reading and unwinding. Thoughtful reconfiguration created a spacious, serene layout, balancing beauty, function, and family-friendly moments for visiting grandkids, resulting in a timeless, spa-like escape that feels both personal and restorative.
