Design Matters is thrilled to be recognized by the ASID CALIFORNIA PENINSULA: DESIGN EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2021. Thank you to ASID for honoring us with FOUR Design Excellence Awards! Our team had a fantastic night at the Awards Gala, sponsored by our friends at Lusso. Our award winning designs can be viewed below. We are forever grateful to do what we love each day, and we continue to strive for design excellence with the highest level of customer satisfaction, technical knowledge, and design expertise.

Category Winner: Transitional/Traditional Kitchen

This vibrant family kitchen was designed in a transitional style for our client with a large, growing family of 8. This highly functional space was created through a full rearrangement of home layout, moving the kitchen to the back of the house to allow for a seamless indoor-outdoor flow to the backyard entertaining area. This space is beautiful and highly functional, and will be the true heart of the home for decades to come.

Category Winner: Singular Space

This Modern Craftsman Cookie Kitchen is a singular space that captivates our followers and clientele. We created a “secret” space with a nod to a time when homemade food was the only kind, installing an old masonry “wall” as the backdrop to new cabinetry and a cozy wood top for working. By creating a secret cabinet entry within the kitchen, the room function was maximized, while correcting the balance and alignment of the kitchen itself.

Category Winner: Traditional/Transitional - Residence over 3,000 Sq Ft.

For this Mediterranean villa, a shift in design perspective and philosophy necessitated the achievement of a particularly grand result—an estate befitting the Age of Redefinition. The homeowner sought to blur the definition of work and home life by imagining a property that could support the intricacies of both business and family at a singular address. For Julie Cavanaugh, the task was to create an environment that redefined work and home, and still achieved balance and harmony within the space.

Category Winner: Traditional/Transitional Bathroom

This Historic downtown area home was renovated in a Transitional style. As older homes often come to us with several design challenges, we embraced the challenges and created a stunning, eye-catching moment in this Master Bathroom. Featuring Rift Cut White Oak cabinetry, cobalt blue vertical tile, stunning lighting and plumbing finishes, there is now an overall harmony to the space, is inviting for the owners, and is dynamic in results. This is a fan favorite!
